How to use the FAS-DPD Chlorine Test

You can choose 2 degrees of accuracy with this test: .2PPM or .5PPM.
The greater the accuracy, the more chemicals and drops required.

Step 1
:
Rinse and fill the large comparator tube to the desired mark with the water to be tested: For .2PPM accuracy fill to the 25ML Mark and For .5PPM, fill to the 10ML mark.

Step 2:
Add 2 Dippers R-0870 powder. If free chlorine is present, your water sample will turn pink.

Step 3:
Add R-0871, drop-by-drop while swirling and counting after each drop, until sample color turns colorless.

Step 4:
Multiply the number of drops required to turn your sample colorless. If you used a 25ML sample of water you will multiply by .20ppm. If you used a 10ML sample, you will multiply by .50PPM. The resulting number is your free chlorine in PPM (Parts per million)

Step 5:
Add 5 drops of the R-0003 agent. Swirl to mix. If combined chlorine is present, the sample will turn pink.

Step 6:
Add R-0871 dropwise, while swirling and counting after each drop, until the color changes from pink to colorless again.

Step 7:
Multiply the drops in step 6 by the same PPM Drops equivalence you used in step 4. (.20 for 25ML sample or .50 for 1ML sample)The resulting number is your Combined Chlorine in PPM.
