What's Causing These Stains?
Have you ever had a sparkling clear swimming pool only to notice brown or yellow stains on the surface? Nothing spoils the beauty of crystal clear water than a dirty, stained-looking surface. Those stains could be caused by metal in the water. If you're unable to remove them by scrubbing or brushing the surface, you may have copper or some other metal in your water causing the stains on the sides of your pool.

How do I test for Metal?

Got Vitamin C tablets? Simply, grab a Vitamin C Tablet and rub
it directly on one of your stained pool surfaces. If the stain is caused by copper or other metals, it will magically appear as if you are erasing the stain. It will vanish before your eyes. Now, you're probably asking, "Great. What am I supposed to do, buy a thousand bottles of vitamin c tablets and begin rubbing them all over the pool? " No, there is an easier way!

How to Easily Remove Metal Stains from Pool

As the vitamin-c tablets proved, the magic solution to your Metal Stain Problem is Ascorbic acid. Ascorbic Acid, along with other stain removing chemicals are available in many forms from pool supply dealers. In addition to removing the stains from your pool, you will want to add a Metal Sequestering agent to your pool to help keep the stains from forming again.

Important Tip

Ascorbic acid will quickly eat up the free chlorine in your pool. For this reason, it makes sense to lower your chlorine to say, 1PPM during treatment so the stain remover has the best chance to work completely. You may want to keep your chlorine at 1PPM for about a week, but make sure to use an algacide during this time, or you run the risk of getting a massive algae problem along with a murky, cloudy pool that could take days to clear up.
